Thin White Duke

In 1976 David Bowie introduced a new persona, The Thin White Duke.

The Duke was a hollow man who sang songs of romance with an agonised intensity, yet felt nothing. Following in the footsteps of this Noir style, I opted for black background, hard light and a reflective, slightly disengaged personality.

This dark character appeared on the Station to Station album, which has been described as "simultaneously one of Bowie's most accessible albums and his most impenetrable". Although the makeup wasn't a key feature in this particular shoot, the styling and attitude was, again Elloise and the model did a great job.
