Project: Week 1 - Colour
So to kick off my 52 project, I chose "colour" as my theme for week 1. I have to admit it's theoretically pretty easy as we are surrounded by colour all the time, but I wanted to create something interesting and a little different. I thought about the kind of image I would like to create - something simple, effective, colourful and cheap! I didn't fancy going out in the cold, the high winds and the rain, so I needed to be creative around the house, so I started to play around with a few ideas. Quite recently I made an image of melted crayons which would have been perfect for this - shucks! I needed to think of something else - pencils are VERY versatile and strangely alluring so I set up a variety of concepts with them and, after lots of experimentation, I finally managed to create an image I was happy with. Dealing with so many reflections was a challenge, but with a lot of patience I overcame it.
I also wanted to work with water and to create a reflected image in droplets so I researched how this could be achieved, then turned the living room into The Nutty Professor's laboratory with tubes, bottles, lenses, lights and objects everywhere. Once I had got to grips with the general method and lighting, I moved on to looking for interesting subject matter. Having completed several setups with a multitude of different products, the one that stood out the most was the Marmite jar due to its distinctive and colourful logo. Below is the chosen 'winner' for this week's theme.
