Project: Week 22 - Love
With the subject matter almost following on from mylast weeks project, this time it's all about Love. As I previously indicated I have a love for sweeties, mainly M&M's. So what could I possibly do with them?
Again, I went along the simple is better premise, but to make it slightly more interesting I played with the composition and the way words could be formed by rotating the sweets. From having a multicoloured line of sweets spelling Mmmmm to MEOW. But in the end ME seemed more suitable, as this project is about me (and food).
Loving sweets is easy, the confectioners take care of that for me, my love of colour should be obvious by now, but the thing I struggle with the most is loving myself, when I feel low sweets are my comforters.
The idea for the candy was invented in the 1930s during the Spanish Civil War, when Forrest Mars saw soldiers eating chocolate pellets with a hard shell of tempered chocolate surrounding the inside, preventing the candies from melting. When operations were started, the hard-coated chocolates were made in five colors: red, yellow, brown, green, and violet. They were originally packaged in a cardboard tube (similar to Smarties).
